I may be gone for a couple days

From the blog that is. It depends on how everything goes.

Update: I'm back but groggy, they had to stop in the middle of procedure, so punt. Still a bit groggy. It only lasted 30 minutes before they had to pull back and now the real fun will start  in a couple weeks.

What happened to flight 370?

If this is true, then what?

"INDIAN OCEAN (INTELLIHUB) — According to freelance journalist Jim Stone, one of the American passengers, Phillip Wood, a technical storage executive at IBM, who was aboard the now missing Malaysian Airlines flight, keystered his iPhone 5 in his anus after the Boeing 777 carrying 239 people was hijacked by military personnel while on route to China.
Amazingly, Stone claims that metadata within the photo yields evidence confirming “100 percent” that Phillip Wood sent the photo, along with a brief voice activated text, from GPS coordinates which put Wood only a few miles away from the U.S. controlled Diego Garcia military base which is located on an island south of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean."

Open Comments

Comment section of this blog is now open. It was pointed out to me a few days ago that you had to sign in order to comment. You also had to fill out a box containing letters to prove that you are not a robot. That has since been fixed, so anyone is free to comment. I would rather you not comment anonymous, but comment under a name. You can choose to name/URL and use it in any name phony is fine whatever you want to use so I can keep comments straight from the same people.

If you choose to use the anonymous post , you may.  It is just better if you have a name.  By the way, I am testing a new program called Dragon NaturallySpeaking  and this whole post was posted by me talking into a microphone.  It seems to be working fairly well . I only see a few mistakes now and again.  It is supposed to get better the more that you use it,  we will see.

I Don't Know

In these times of economic uncertainty. I'm not the one be able to tell folks where to put their money or how to diversify. There are a lot of people who think they know how to keep your wealth protected from the oligarchy, elite and the general financial situation the United States. I don't think anybody really knows how to do these things, they just pretend to know. I know I do a few things here and there. It don't amount to much. I know the FDIC is not going to save my bank account and I know the silver and gold can be confiscated. I know the firearms can be confiscated. So, in general, I'm not the person to ask on how to preserve your wealth in the coming times. I'm not a gloom and doom purveyor, rather, I look back and see that there are rough times ahead and I'm not the one to tell you how to save your family livelihood in the coming storm.

There are a few things you can do by diversifying into cash so that you can be liquid, metals for wealth preservation. First thing I would consider is to pay down your debt have some extra food on hand and buy some land if you have some extra money left over. I hear different advice from different people and I have included a short video. Ann Barnhart, take it for what it's worth.

Nuclear Strike Map

This is an interesting tool. If you want to know what happens if a Nuke goes off  near your location this will approximate a nuclear blast radius and fallout. It will also estimate casualties (some areas I have found they won't show estimated casualties)

Hang Fire - Gun Safety

What is hang fire? Hang fire as most of my readers know is when a firearm snaps and the cartridge does not fire immediately, but waits a small amount of time and then fires. There are many reasons that could cause hang fire, damp powder, defective primer and ect...

Safety - If you hear the snap of a firearm and it does not go off, hold your position, do not move. If it is going to go off it will in 2 seconds or less. I count to 10 at a public firing range or 5 out the farm before moving. If the gun does not go off I point it in a safe direction and unload the cartridge and let it fall. I wait another 30 seconds and then inspect the primer to see if it was hit. After the inspection I conclude if the primer was hit and other cartridges of the same lot have been firing that the primer was bad. If it is the first shot of the lot I am not sure and am careful with the rest of them knowing this might happen again.

I have been shooting trap and my shotgun went click. I immediately stopped the swing of my gun and held and less than a second later the gun fired.

Always assume the firearm will fire and keep the business end of the gun down range and safe.

Have You Ever Seen A Rainbow? - Probably not

Walter Lewin, One of the finest physics teachers ever.

Boolean Logic, The Gorge of Eternal Peril

Here is the scenario. You are in a room with two closed doors both look exactly the same. There are two other men in the room with you, one standing in front of each door. One door leads to "The Gorge of Eternal Peril.",  The other door leads to Kansas and you want to avoid the Gorge and go to Kansas.

You are told of the two men standing in front of each door that one always lies and one always tells the truth, but you don't know which is which and both men know where each door leads.  You are also told that they know each other and they know if the other one always lies or always tells the truth. You are further told that you may ask each man one question (It can be any question for either). What questions do you ask the two men to find out which door you want to go out to get to Kansas?

Try and figure it out for yourself before you look at the comments, because someone may already have. If you've heard it before and already know, don't tell until someone figures it out.

Update - to make it easier to  think through, draw a picture, draw a square room with  two doors and the three of you.

Update II - Looks like no one can answer it check the comments and I'll answer it tomorrow sometime. Wonder if The Super intelligence Vox can answer it? If you seen it before and know the answer go ahead and answer it.

Rain Barrel Design

This is an optimum rain barrel design I came up with off the gutter of my house.

Quick description:

Notice in the drawing below the straight drop is called a first flush, that takes the first flush of dust and bird poop off the roof. Optimum design is to let it hold the first quarter inch. When the flush drop fills to the "T"  (first flush) it will spill over into the rain barrel with the cleaner water. It still may need some more filtering or at least decontamination by boiling, UV sun or chlorine (I suggest *chlorine and gravity flow filtering before using as drinking water). A good gravity flow filter is almost a must for drinking water. If you want to store some water do so in a cool dry place. The first flush water can be used to water plants if you like. The reason for the East symbol is because I designed it for the north side of my house in CAD.

Important: Make sure you empty out first flush water after every rain.

Note: you can use any kind of downspout tubing you like. PVC "T" adabters are easier to find. Make your own equipment list.

* Warning - do not use scented bleach it is deadly. Use 8-10 drops of 5% - 6% household chlorine bleach per gallon, stir and let sit for 30 minutes then pour into Gravity flow filter. My favorite gravity flow filter.

Science and Technology Quiz

Do you know more than 92% of the average American?  13 multiple choice questions on science and Technology. It is amazing how many people failed to answer all 13 questions correctly with a level of difficulty from 1 to 10 being a 1.

What Hunting Rifle do I need?

The answer is it depends?
We are going to discuss some cartridges (not all) in this post. In later Posts we will deal with type of rifle. For this post we will just deal with the standard scoped bolt action rifle comparing apples to apples. Charts and graphs provided will need to be clicked on to get a larger readable view.

Outlaw-X

This blog is about things that I find interesting. It is just my meandering thoughts on things I observe. It has no specific purpose but to amuse myself or just to rant.
